We didn't make any cuts in the car shell, just knocked out the original seat mounts (which we discovered were snapping off anyway - eep!) and used some angle steel to make brackets for side mounts, in the end we managed to get the seat about 10cm lower!

I would but I wanted to keep the interior reasonably original.

Might seam weld the car.....

I feel your pain with headroom in caged 86's, my solution was to mount the seat on the floor :D

I have the hatch. I took out my bolt in half cage as it was too near my head so I may have lost some torsional stiffening.

Do you own a booter or a hatchback? I've got a two door levin booter and with a roll cage and a basic strut brace I get no play in the rear at all.

Theres nothing like some stiff suspension to give some annoying creaks. I can hear my bootlid squeaking on the rubbers down the roads. Its starting to get on my nerves. The bootlid is locked properly but at the corners as the car squeaks I peek more daylight coming through.

Will the more extensive strut braces solve this? I was thinking of making my own cross brace to run from the strut towers to the rear chassis points used in some of the off the shelf kits. I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say the top bars that people run never did squat...
