Anyone ran their 86 on 13" alloys?

I'm thinking of getting some 9 x 13" split rims. They are a lot cheaper than importing 14" jap ones.
Wondering what peoples experience was with 13" rims and ride height etc.

most of the irish run their cars on 13s... 185/60/13 tyres. gearing may be affected slightly but cant see much else to worry about

I currently run 14's on mine with a 4.7 ratio pinion gear and the rpm difference between fourth and fifth is all of 200rpm, unless you ran tyres with a large sidewall I could see 13's making day to day driving a bit of a pain!

Saying that I'm not sure if my gearbox was played with before I owned it, it's always seemed very short even when the stock diff setup was on it.

I wouldnt be adding low profile tyres to them lol. I'd get a 60 or 65 side wall, although this would be reduced with the stretch.
I have a set of 15" wheels for the long journeys and a pedal bike for commuting.

13s are awesome. I've got a set of 13" superlights with 185/60 Advan A048s on them for trackdays:

The reduced gearing peps the car up nicely for the track, I've ran them on the road too and they were fine, anything over 60 is deafening in an 86 anyway

Ain't that the truth!

I was debating getting so 60 side walled tyres for my 14's to try and make it more motorway friendly (when driving to and from shows).
