Dirty turbo Trueno drift shed

Been looking through some old pics so thought I'd post them on the new forum.

Some of you may know this thing already... had it for nearly 8 years now and bought it because one day I was bored of my company hack and decided I wanted something rwd, lightweight, and with 4 seats.

Retro Car had just ran an 86 buyers guide and then I found this on ebay and it was local, should have just bought an E36 M3.

When I first got it, bog standard except for the exhaust and lovely wooden Nardi wheel:

Ran it like this for a while smashed it into the back of some mare who pulled out onto a roundabout and stopped when there was nothing bleeding coming! The result:

Pulled the motor out and got a local body shop to start work on it, turns out it had previous crash damage in the same place so needed the work doing anyway:Image

While the motor was out I thought this thing needs more power... first idea was a 2ZZ from a Celica T-Sport as it was bound to be a bolt-in conversion, er no. Then I thought about a rotrex charger but found they were silly money and don't give the mid-range I wanted, so a turbo it was then! While the body was being sorted I tore down the motor and did a full rebuild and the turbo conversion.

Engine back in the car with turbo install:

A bit of fettling on the dyno and it was ready to hit the streets:

Some pics my mate took:

Bought Robs 13" minilites for track use:

First drift day at Curborough, was really pleased with the way the car went:

Polished up for the legendary Stoney Cove 86 meet:

Looking good for first day at the Pod:

Was looking good until this happened:

The aftermath:

Anyway, fixed it up over the winter and did some skidding, mainly at Mallory:

Brother Bam captured the moment just before the cones got it:

One of my fav pics of the car, going through the esses, taken by Lee Broadley:

Had a near miss at Devil's Elbow with Brother Bam riding shotgun:

Then the inevitable blowup happened:

Rebuild no.2 completed with pistons from James' parts bin:

Reping the Brotherhood:

The rebuild was done in time for the BDC license day in 2011 at Donny, the diff was getting noisier all the way up there, 2 runs in and:

Correctly diagnosed by Louise:

Fixed it back up for Awesomefest, anyway I'll dig those pics out and carry-on later...
