86 Fest 2015?

Postby Lauren » Sun Nov 30, 2014 6:21 pm

Hi all, just thought I'd put it out there as there is the possibility of an 86 fest next year that I am organising through the GT86 BRZ Driver's Club. Obviously there are many more GT86's than there are AE86's, plus we have a strong and growing following from the tuners. We are looking to base it at a track to include a variety of options.

Please let me know if you guys are interested in joining up. Really I think it's about time we had something noteworthy for the UK which will include Europe seeing as the US and Australia seem to manage decents events, it's about time we did too!

Things are in the early stage of planning at the moment, but we have to start somewhere and if anyone has any good contacts it'd be great if you could let me know.

Cheers,

Lauren (GT86 BRZ DC Director. GT86 & AE86 owner too!). :)

Yes, yes and yes.

It's something the Irish have with Mondelo but other that the Retro Toyota Gathering, there isn't much in the line of 86 group gatherings to note.
(Also, most of the BRZ and GT86 fraternity up here are more concerned with MPG and warranty than car meets with enthusiasts)

That's cool, Matt. :)

FWIW there is an absolutely buzzing scene amongst GT86 and BRZ owners these days. We have a lot of events going on. We did a tour of GPRM (who made the AE86 BTCC replica and of course the GT86 GT4 cars) only last weekend. The owners you're referring to, must be a different breed, that's certainly not been my experience! ;)

Tbh I really want to include the AE86 guys in this as the cars are so rare, there seems to be so little going on and it's only fitting that we have all the 86's together I think.

I'll keep you in the loop, Chay, don't worry. Early days at the moment, though will be discussed more in a couple of weeks at the club Xmas do, where there should be some feedback from our contacts. :)

If I'm not out at sea I'd be up for this! Gotta show the gt86 owners how it's done, haha
