Cheers Chaydon! Little jobs now will hopefully save time during the swap.

JSP mount kit and beezel finally arrived :D
Can't wait to get stuck in come December!

I've also just ordered a few more parts from Techno Toy Tuning which should hopefully help correct the geometery post engine swap.

Jumping straight in with ITBs and ECU :)
Good plan!

I'm more of a "in standard, work out kinks, then upgrade" kind of guy.
Look forward to seeing more progress.

Yeah that would have normally been the plan.
But I can't pass up a good deal!
The ecu will make wiring a little easier and allows me to run without any check engine lights on the clocks as well.

It's going abit slow now the little jobs are slowly adding up and I'm lacking in time.

Progress has been abit slow recently, time and finances have been focused on my new house and searching for a new career path as mine current role is coming to an end mid April.

Looking back through my previous updates it's becoming a trend that I've got myself another toy/distraction. Not about to start breaking the trend.

Image

Picked myself up a Toyota chaser with a few tasteful mods.
The defender was fun and all but I missed having something fast and rwd to lighten up my day to day drive.

Back to the 86.
I'm at the mocking up stage, making sure everything fits around the engine prior to chassis reinforcements and paint.
Been waiting on a few parts to arrive before I could progress any further.

Got my injectors cleaned and tested along with replacement seals
Image

Modified 86 ally rad to allow better routing of the hoses
Image

Image

Fitted my brake booster delete and 15/16 Master cylinder
Image

Dropped my axle
Image

And replaced with a rebuilt mk1 pajero item from modception
Image

Image

4.6 Final drive and 2way LSD
Image

Thought that with the additional power and wide arches the overall appearance could be improved with some 15inch wheels. Not only that but it gives me more tyre options.
So I bought myself some Works wheels
Fronts 15x8 -16
Rears 15x8.5 -25
Image

Gave them a quick test fit

Engine and subframe is coming out this weekend so i can progress with chassis reinforcement and paint. LCAs, arbs and the subframe are going to the powder coaters to keep everything fresh.
Until next time...

HAHAHHA, the more and more I look at the parts list and what you're doing to yours, the more annoyed I get that you did it first because it looks like I'm copying you!

How long was MC in sending you the Axle? I'm going the same route, just undecided whether to go for 4.22 or 4.625 as it's a huge jump between the two!

Do you look into different engine/gearbox mounts? I bought Cusco AE86 engine mounts from Battle Garage and will be buying Hardrace mounts for the gearbox as 1. Cusco don't do them for the S2k and 2. Hardrace wouldn't sell JUST the engine mounts for the 86

*Random side message: I'll be buying an uprated shift bushing for the 2k box from RHD soon if you want me to also stick one on for you in the order :)*

HAHAHA sorry dude.
Ive just thought screw it with this build and build exactly what I want for once. Have you got a build thread on here?

Took months to get it from MC ordered it back in December and only arrived a few weeks back.
Standard 86 mounts for the moment Id read somewhere that the aftermarket 86 mounts are smaller and lower the engine in the bay which the can't afford with the sump being so low.
How do the battle garage compare to oem size wise?
I might add a torque damper if i seem to have any issues.

Im starting to feel the 4.6 was a bit of a mistake non the less it'll help with the slower speed drifting can always change the final drive in the future once I start to get comfortable with the car.

Uprated shift bush? is this a know problem with the s2000 gearbox?

Nearly completed stitch welding the front suspension turrets and chassis legs then onto paint prior to the long uphill struggle.

Good on you :)

Seems you found it already ;) mine is very slow progress, I guess I could update something hah.

He put a post up as apparently his supply of axles has been borderline scrap recently and he's had to Jig stuff up to keep the alignments right with welding new tubes.
Will have to have a look at that once I get the Cusco ones, might be getting Sump guarded anyway for good measure - too many speed-bumps here :(
Probably worthwhile stabilising the top end of the engine, not that it's massively torquey I guess.

I need to think it over before I "pull the trigger" so to speak, driftland has a mixture of tight layouts and fast open corners and MX5 was crap with a 3.9 in it.

If you take off your shifter from your S2K and have a look, they have a plastic bush like the AE86 do and it might have fallen to pieces. The uprated ones are just metal to keep it tight. The boxes are pretty bombproof as far as I've heard :)

Chay is sorting a group-buy with Kajoba works for some strengthening plates soon - brace your chassis leg against bulkhead and rear turrets to boot floor.

Could be worth holding off from final weld and paint :)

Yeah I did see his updates I think he's not planning on doing another run of axles for a while.

Yeah sump guard is a must! It's too much of a risk

Ahh cool you've got an mx5 as well?

I'll whip it off next time I'm home and have a look. They're cheap enough I'll take one.

Yea Im on the group buy list but I need the car done like yesterday so I've messaged him privately to try and get them beforehand.

What stage are you in currently?
